One application per Word, Excel and PowerPoint up Android: the Redmond team has chosen to bring together the three best known and most used instruments of the suite Officethus no longer forcing separate downloads. The new version all-in-one is already available for installation on Play Store, but only for smartphones. At the moment it is not known whether or for when compatibility with tablets is expected.
Office: one app for W, X and P on Android
An initiative put in place by Microsoft at the beginning of last year precisely with the aim of bringing together the software within a single package. In November, the rollout of a preview version reserved for Insiders, today the official debut for everyone. Also included is the ability to browse files saved on the cloud within the space OneDrive, to then create or open an existing one to be modified without going through the launch of another app.
Other features include synchronization with Sticky Notes saved on Windows 10 e Lens for reading QR codes or scanning paper documents.
As written at the beginning, support is currently missing Tablet. In addition, the interface is shown only in portrait (vertical) mode and it is not possible to rotate it in landscape (horizontal). Nor is it known whether the separate and independent Android applications of Word, Excel and PowerPoint are destined to disappear. No information even on the possibility that the same happens with Office iOS applications.
