The third call for tenders begins Action for 5G, the initiative promoted by Vodafone Italy and aimed at startups, SMEs and social enterprises that have the desire to contribute to the development of 5G in our country by putting their skills at the service of innovation. On the plate € 2.5 million in order to financially support the selected ideas.

To propose them there will be time until February 3, 2020, sending applications through official site of the project. On the portal, following the creation of the account, it is also possible to subscribe to one of the workshop organized by Vodafone at its offices in Milan and Rome whose focus is precisely on the new generation mobile networks.
These are the areas to which they must be assigned projects: Health and wellness, mobility and transport, manufacturing and industry 4.0, education and entertainment, smart energy, security and surveillance. Required requirement is to exploit at least one of the distinctive features of 5G: connection speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second, latency below 10 milliseconds and support a high density of connections on the same network.
From April to July 2020 the best ideas will enter the phase Design in 5G benefiting from a first round of financing so as to proceed with the development, relying also on the support provided by the operator's experts. The evaluation will be carried out by a board made up of members of Vodafone Italia, Politecnico di Milano and venture capitalists. The next stage is Development and Test in Lab which will be staged from August to December 2020 with a second financing necessary for the realization of a working prototype. Finally, up to one million euros will be awarded to the winners to enable the solution to be rolled out to the commercial launch.
The initiative was launched in 2017 by Vodafone in partnership with PoliHub (incubator of the Politecnico di Milano managed by the Politecnico Foundation). Six projects funded so far in the areas of robotics, mixed reality and real time collaboration.
