Fight the cyberbullying through the weapon of training. It is the objective of the initiative announced today by AICA (Italian Association for Informatics and Automatic Calculation) and proposed in collaboration with the Carolina Onlus Foundation, baptized CYBERSCUDO. It's about a certification whose objective is to provide the essential concepts useful for recognizing, preventing and combating the phenomenon.
Cyberbullying: the CYBERSCUDO certification
A examination form which certifies the possession of the necessary skills for a safe and aware use of the Network. To the participants (interested parties can check the list of locations present throughout Italy) indications are given on the issue, its specificities and legal implications, addressing issues such as the risks that are hidden between the social network message boards and the abuse of messaging systems, often the vehicle for such behavior.
At the end the candidates are submitted to a test with 36 theoretical questions (multiple choice) to be answered in 45 minutes. THE'certificate then provided certifies the skills acquired with regard to:
- be able to recognize cyberbullying cases in a clear and hidden way, learning to prevent them;
- know what to do and who to contact in the presence of cyberbullying;
- learn about the main legal and regulatory aspects of cyberbullying;
- to know the characteristics and the relative risks of social networks regarding this subject.
We close with the words of Ivano Zoppi, general secretary of Carolina Foundation, the non-profit organization dedicated to Carolina Picchio, the first victim of cyberbullying recognized in Italy.
There is no control over the training models we offer to children, as well as to teachers, with the result that the proposed contents are often inconsistent, from institution to institution. The collaboration with AICA looks precisely in this direction, according to the role of our Onlus, not only in terms of training and service, but also as a guarantor towards the whole educating community.
